CROSS COUNTRY
The Kerry Juvenile Cross Country Relays were held at Firies, on Sunday 13th October. The following Kilgarvan athletes were members of the Greater Kenmare Athletic Club relay teams. Girls U10 Niamh Healy, the team did not place.
Boys U10 relay team, Kieran Tuohy and Daniel Creedon, Kenmare team placed 1st and will go forward to represent Kerry in the Munster Championships. Boys
U12, Seamus O’Donoghue was on the winning Kenmare team that placed 1st and will also go forward to represent the County in the Munster Championship. In the girls U14 relay race Kayla Dineen was a member of the Kenmare team that placed 3rd and Kieran O’Donoghue’s Kenmare team placed 3rd in the boys U14 race. In the relays both boys and girls, each athlete ran five hundred meters and each team consisted of four athletes. Each year these County Cross Country Relays attract a big number of teams from all over the County and this year was no exception with teams from all over the county. It was also a good day for the Kenmare Club as they retained the County Juvenile Cross Country Shield for the tenth year in a row. Farranfore were 2nd and Tralee Harriers were 3rd.

Clubs and organisations of the parish will be contacted shortly and asked to buy into the second edition of Kilgarvan Review. It is planned to have it ready for the Christmas market, early December.
P.J. MCINTYRE PLAQUE
Kenmare Shamrocks Hurling and Football team unveiled a plaque in memory of P.J. McIntyre who died in 2014 for his contribution to the club as a player, both in hurling and football. He was on the Kenmare District Board and South Kerry Hurling Board and County Board administrator. P.J. gave a lifetime of service to the development and preparation of teams and was very much instrumental in developing the clubs facilities. The plaque was blessed by Father Tom Crean. Short speeches about his contribution to club activities were made by Kenmare Shamrocks Chairperson Sean O’Shea, County Board Chairperson Tim Murphy, Michael Casey, Andy O’Sullivan and Club President Tom O’Connor, Cahir. P.J.’S wife Mamie RIP who also made a large contribution in her lifetime to local organisations particularly GAA and athletics was remembered too. Mrs Geraldine Foley daughter of P.J. and Mamie spoke on behalf of family. She thanked all for attending and acknowledged her parents contribution to the local community activities, particularly that of the GAA. Brother Padraig, Glenstall Abbey was present and their brother Seamus RIP was also remembered.
