Munster Branch ADM in Mallow

-

THE Munster Branch of the GUI will hold its Annual Delegates Meeting tonight (Wednesday) at the Hibernian Hotel in Mallow at 6.30pm and prior to the start of the meeting, there will be two brief presentations.

Members of the transition board for Golf Ireland will give and update on how the amalgamation of the GUI & ILGU is doing while there will also be an introduction to the new World Handicap system which of course comes into effect here in November of 2020.

The agenda for the meeting is standard with the usual reports and accounts while of the outgoing officers of the branch are going forward for election again unopposed.

There will however be an election for the provincial council with 18 nominations for the seventeen places and I am appealing to all Kerry clubs to support our two outgoing candidates Tom Keane from Ballybunion and Tralee’s Michael Coote, along with new nomination Damian O’Sullivan from Dooks as we need more Kerry representation on a Cork-dominated council.

The Chairman, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Match & Handicapping Secretary and seven of the existing council of sixteen are from Cork clubs which is exactly half of the present Munster Branch.

Kerry with sixteen has the second highest number of clubs in Munster, yet we currently have just two representatives, so please make sure we get a third elected tonight.

Just a quick note on voting, as per approval at a previous AGM of the GUI, a club cannot split their vote, meaning all delegates from one club must vote the same way and clubs are permitted to use their full quota of votes (1, 2, 3 or 4 depending on the size of their membership) even if all of their delegates are not in attendance.
