FASHION SPECTACULAR AT THE ISK
A FULL house, some 400 people, attended what was the Intermediate School Killorglin’s first-ever fashion show – but its success and feedback from those present would suggest it won’t be the last.
Organised by a committee of 17 teachers – with no little help along the way from Transition Year students – this was a case of all hands on deck, and it paid off, as teacher Pádraig Creedon explained.
“It was a very successful night, with over 20 shops and 100 models – teachers, students, teachers – on the catwalk,” he said. “It was a fundraiser for the school, and we also had some special guests: footballers Shane Enright, and former students Seán O’Sullivan and Brendan Kealy.
“It was our first time doing this. We’ve held school musicals and plays before, but I think there’s a good chance we’ll do something like this again.”
On the night, students provided musical entertainment, and a video from Kerry comedy sensation Bernard Casey was played, much to everyone’s amusement.
Mr Creedon, a Physics and Maths teacher, thanked Sol y Sombra and Killorglin Carpet and Furniture Centre for their support. He also extended his thanks to Shauna Corcoran; Rachel O’Connor; Fiona Hyde from Killarney’s ‘The Pill Box; Lisa O’Connor; Mike Dowd; and Eamon Looney for their assistance with the event.
“I’d also like to thank all the shops that provided wear for the night, as well as the Transition Years, who helped the committee throughout,” Pádraig added.
