Promoting the Reeks District in UK

UK-BASED CONSTRUCTION FIRM WITH KERRY LINKS PROMOTES REEKS

- By STEPHEN FERNANE

COMMUTERS passing through busy parts of Southwark, Battersea and Stratford in London might be tempted to visit the Reek’s District thanks to a novel idea by the UK-based Glencar Construction company and Kerry Reeks District.

They have teamed up to launch a London billboard campaign to try and entice UK capital commuters to not only visit and enjoy the stunning range of scenery and adventure tourism on offer in the Reeks District, but to consider relocating.

The construction company has donated billboards at three of its London sites to the destination marketing organisation to be used as part of a playful campaign.

It will remind commuters that just a 60-minute flight away lies a place offering a unique lifestyle and sense of adventure, far from the hectic life in London. The billboards include striking images of climbing on Beenkeragh, surfing at Inch Beach and cycling in the Gap of Dunloe. Each campaign poster has a take on a different activity along the lines of: ‘One hour from the depths of London’ (climbing); ‘one hour from the bored meeting’ (surfing) and ‘one hour from the hard commute’ (cycling).

Based in St Albans, Glencar Construction was founded in 2016 by Eddie McGillycuddy. The family have links to the Reeks area.

“We may be based in the UK, but both our company name and our family surname highlight our roots back home,” Eddie said.

Reeks District chair Jens Bachem said it’s to encourage people to visit and relocate to the Reeks District.

“We are grateful to Glencar Construction for this campaign,” he said.
