Castleisland plans vehicle run in aid of the hospice

-

A PRE-CHRISTMAS Vehicle Run is beyond the announcement stages and into the area of finer detail planning.

Being organised as a fundraiser for the Kerry Hospice Foundation and on behalf of the Castleisland fundraising branch, the event will be held on Sunday, December 22nd.

Vehicle owners are being asked to gather at the yard of the Castleisland Co-Op Mart at 12:30pm ahead of the 1pm start.

The convoy will head out on a relatively short run by the Tralee Road route to the Mile

Height roundabout. There it will turn left towards Farranfore and left again for Castleisland and home.

Tractors, cars, lorries, and bikes are all welcome and there’s a €20 per vehicle entry fee.

“If it has an engine and wheels bring it on,” is the clarion call for this event which will start and finish on the mart yard.

There are special prizes for the best, seasonally decorated vehicle with Christmas lights and decorations.

Post run ‘finger food’ and entertainment will be provided at Tom McCarthy’s Bar.

Kerry Hospice Foundation depends on a variety of fundraising events in the course of the year. Included among these are the annual, September coffee mornings and the summertime Sunflower Day.

The foundation encourages individuals, community groups and work colleagues to initiate events to generate funds in their localities or work places.

They cite events like raffles, quizzes, coffee morning or evening, head shave, gala ball, dance, fun run and so on as examples of what people can get up to on their behalf.
