MERGER BRINGS TOMMY BACK HOME

-

KERRY GAA star Tommy Walsh is set to exercise his business expertise back in his home town with the announcement of a merger between Cork’s CDS Law & Tax – on whose team Walsh holds the key position of Chartered Tax Advisor - and Tralee-based firm MJS Legal.

Under the merger the Denny St practice will be rebranded as CDS Law & Tax, giving the growing professional services firm a strong base of operations in Kerry.

MJS Legal principal Michael Stack boards the CDS team as a solicitor based out of the Tralee office, whose legal team will be led by fellow Kingdom native Jennifer Downing, Head of Property with CDS Law & Tax, an expert in all aspects of commercial and residential property transactions and originally hailing from Kenmare.

Commenting on the merger, CDS Law & Tax principal Ciaran Desmond said the establishment of a fully-resourced Tralee office was the natural solution to growing local demand.

“Our commercial presence in Kerry has been steadily expanding over the past number of years, driven by the presence of Jennifer and Tommy on the CDS team and their expertise in commercial property law and tax consultancy respectively,” said Desmond.

“I’ve also long been aware of Michael Stack by name and reputation and when the opportunity arose for us to combine our resources in a meaningful way there was no hesitation on our part.”

Michael Stack added: “Ciaran is a hugely experienced

Lawyer and Chartered Tax Advisor and the breadth of expertise in both taxation and legal matters offered by CDS Law & Tax is exceptional.

“I’m extremely proud to be joining the team and I look forward to our future together, delivering the highest standard of services to the community of Tralee and beyond.”

For his part, Walsh said that the opportunity to put down his business roots in his home town represented an open shot on goal.

“My ties to Tralee and my commitment to my native county are no secret, obviously,” said the Kerins O’Rahilly’s clubman, who helped Kerry reach the 2019 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final.

“To be able to build a business base in my home town is hugely significant for me in terms of squaring the circle between my professional and private lives.

“I am very much looking forward to working alongside Jennifer, Michael and the wider CDS team in building for the future.”
