SVDP and Kelliher’s team up to launch Christmas toy appeal

-

WHEN Caballs Toyshop in Tralee closed earlier this year there were fears the annual toy appeal the shop ran with St Vincent De Paul may have gone with it.

Thankfully that’s not the case and the yearly appeal – which aims to ensure no child in the area goes without a present this Christmas – has been resurrected by Tralee’s newest toyshop. The 2019 appeal has just been launched by Sharon Sheehan and the team at the new toystore ‘Toys Upstairs” which opened in recent weeks at Kelliher’s Hardware on Rock Street. This year’s appeal is being co-ordinated by Treasa Walsh and Marian Moore who said it will be run in the exact same way as in previous years.

The annual SVP appeal has been a great success in previous years, with hundreds of children from less well-off families in Tralee and its surrounding areas receiving toys thanks to thousands of Euro in donations from the public. To help a child in need all you need do is drop into Toy’s Upstairs at Kelliher’s and buy a special voucher for any amount you wish. Donations can also be made in store for those who may prefer to just give cash.

All the money raised will go to St Vincent de Paul who will use it to buy toys and gifts from a wish list submitted by local children. Anyone that wishes can also buy a specific toy from the list. Everyone at Toys Upstairs and Kelliher’s said they are delighted to support such a worthy cause and appealed for as many people as possible to dig deep and help ensure every child has a happy Christmas.
