Tralee ParkRun gets ready for another festive occasion

-

WITH over 250 parkruns so far completed, the annual Christmas Tralee parkrun is expected to attract huge numbers again this year. In what’s now as familiar to the time of year as turkey and ham, hundreds of runners and walkers turn out every Christmas to celebrate the culmination of another fantastic year of parkruns.

Here is some key dates to remember, but keep track of Tralee parkrun’s Facebook page for updates: Saturday 21 December is the Christmas ‘Dress Up’ parkrun; Sunday 22 December sees the Tralee parkrun Christmas disco take priority. This will be held in Tralee Rugby Club (tickets €10); Wednesday 25 December is the Christmas Day parkrun (no post run cuppa on this day); Saturday 28 December is a normal parkrun; Wednesday 1 January is the New Year’s Day parkrun at 11am (please note the later time). There is an opportunity to do a double run on New Year’s Day with Inch Beach parkrun or Listowel parkrun, both start at 9am. A date for the diary in 2020 is Saturday 1 February when Tralee parkrun celebrates its 5th birthday.

Finally, the 2018/19 Christmas parkrun attracted over 350 people which gives you an idea of its growing popularity year on year. Volunteers are needed for this event so get in touch with Tralee parkrun personnel to lend a hand. Help is especially needed for timekeepers, scanners, volunteers in the finish funnel and marshals (message Tralee parkrun Facebook page). For updates and information on Tralee parkrun, check out its Facebook page.
