Cahersiveen Community & Business Alliance is finally up and running

-

THESE are exciting days for Cahersiveen following the creation of ‘Cahersiveen Community & Business Alliance’ in conjunction with Kerry County Council (KCC). It’s hard to believe given all that Cahersiveen has to offer the local and tourist alike that the town is one of the most recent in the county to establish a chamber alliance.

The alliance will be a coming together of all existing groups in the town by having one representative on the executive, along with key stakeholders and community representatives. Its core aim is to promote and enhance Cahersiveen and its environs in a positive way and to ensure all groups, and the broader community, is fully informed of plans for the future development of the town and is able to have its say going forward through representatives on the alliance.

“The alliance will be a link between the community and Kerry County Council and other outside bodies vital to the development of the town,” said Jack Fitzpatrick.

“Its ultimate aim is to build on the good will and support of the community and have the town pulling together and working as one to make the place better for everybody,” he said.

Among some of Cahersiveen Community & Business Alliance’s immediate priorities is the preparation of the town as a Gaeltacht service town and for the South Kerry Greenway to commence in the not too distant future. Plans are also being drawn up for the marketing of the town through a bilingual web site and through social media platforms.

Moreover, it will be committed to implementing all of the socio-economic plan ‘2019 to 2023’ drawn up by KCC and South Kerry Development Partnership (SKDP) over a three month period. The basis for this stems from submissions made to the planner by the local community. All in all, the established of Cahersiveen Community & Business Alliance heralds the beginning of positive new process for Cahersiveen, one that will keep topics of interest in business strategy, tourism initiatives and social issues to the fore.
