2019 OUTDOOR RECREATION INFRASTUCTURE SCHEME
Councillor Michael Cahill has welcomed funding of €80,000 for Outdoor Recreation Infrastucture across the county. The Fianna Fail Councillor said that the grants greatly enhance existing facilities throughout the county. The Outdoor Recreation Infrastucture is a wonderful scheme and I am particularly pleased about the purchase of 5 Beach Wheel Chairs at a cost of €9309.60 in this year’s Programme of Works is something I personally campaigned for. This consists of 5 new wheelchairs (2 Hippocampe and 3 Water Wheels) for Rossbeigh, Maherees, Ballyheigue, Fenit, and Ballybunion beaches.
CUMMER BURIAL GROUND
Councillor Michael Cahill has called on Kerry Co. Council to examine as a matter of priorty a very generous offer of a gift of land (details with Directorate) for the purpose of extending Cummer Burial Ground, Glencar and providing additional car parking. The Fianna Fail Councillor raised the matter at a recent meeting said, ‘’When developed, this most generous gesture will be most welcome by the residence of the parish. I would like to thank Patrick and Margaret Mc.Gillycuddy for this amazing offer, it is a rarity for Kerry Co. Council to recieve a gift of land’’ Councillor Cahill recieved the following reply. The Burial Ground Engineer is currently accessing the matter, the offer made will be considered in the context of the existing availibility and demand for grave spaces and within the context of available resources and funding to carry out the works referred to.
