1. KILLARNEY ON ICE RETURNS THIS FRIDAY

THE hugely popular ‘Killarney On Ice’ returns to town this Friday November 29 and is here to stay until January 5.

This hugely popular attraction will be open on selected dates and is centrally located in the town at Beech Road car park. It is energetic, great fun and is suitable for all ages.

2. JOHN MITCHEL’S CHRISTMAS WEEKENDS

JOHN Mitchels will hold two Christmas themed weekends next month to help raise funds for juvenile developmen­t in the club.

The events will take place over the weekends of December 7 & 8 and 14/15 from 11am to 5pm.

3. LIXNAW TURKEY TROT TAKES PLACE ON SUNDAY

IT’S set to be a very busy day in Lixnaw this Sunday as the annual ‘Lixnaw Turkey Trot’ takes place.

This year’s event will be in aid of two very worthy charities - Comfort for Chemo Kerry and the Irish Red Cross page.

4. FLORAL DEMO IN AID OF RECOVERY HAVEN

PRIZE winning florist and all round expert on flower arranging, Kathleen Reidy, will give a talk and a demonstrat­ion on Christmas floral arrangemen­ts in the River Island Hotel, Castleisla­nd tomorrow night, Thursday December 5at8pm.

All funds raised from the night will go towards the Recovery Haven Cancer Support Group.

5. FESTIVE FUN QUIZ IN BARRADUFF THIS MONTH

THE Barraduff Festive Fun Quiz will be taking place on Friday, December 27 in John Dan’s Bar in Barraduff, so be sure to mark your calendars for this date.

There will be prizes on the night for best Christmas jumper/attire along with plenty of fantastic spot prizes tobe won as well.

No booking on the night is required so everyone is encouraged to come along and support the fantastic Baraduff Tidy Village group.

6. REMEMBER LOST LOVED ONES AT CEREMONY

A special light up ceremony in memory of all those loved ones that have been lost this year will take place on the grounds of UHK in Tralee on Sunday December 8at5pm.

Additional­ly, a ‘Light to Remember’ virtual tree is now live online; members of the public can light a candle in honour of their loved one on the Kerry Hospice Foundation Tree of Rememberan­ce.

7. JACK DUGGAN MONUMENT TO BE UNVEILED

THE Jack Duggan monument will be officially unveiled next Sunday December 15 in the centre of Castlemain­e village at 2pm by the Minister of State, Brendan Griffin.

Frank Hayes (Kerry Group) along with other dignitarie­s and community activists will be on hand to cut the ribbon.

8. KERRY CHORAL UNION TO PERFORM IN TRALEE

KERRY Choral Union will perform an ‘O Holy Night’ concert in St John’s Church on Ashe Street next Sunday December 15 at 7:30pm.

The concert is eagerly anticipate­d each year and attracts up to 600 people. The choir will be joined again by soloist, Miriam Murphy.

The Choir’s repertoire will include Christmas favourites ‘I Saw Three Ships’, Gesu Bambino, ‘Joy to the World’ and regular Christmas classics, ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing, ‘Silent Night’ and ‘O Holy Night’. Also beautiful renditions of ‘Don Oíche Úd I mBeithil (That Night In Bethlehem)’ and The Wexford Carol.

9. KILFLYNN FUNDRAISIN­G TABLE QUIZ

THE Kilflynn Cancer Support Group will hold their annual fundraisin­g table quiz on Saturday night, December 28 in two different locations, Parker’s Pub and Herbert’s Bar at 9pm.

Conor and Daragh Breen will be providing entertainm­ent along with help with the questions; this quiz has been running since 2004 and is a hugely popular event evert year.

This year’s quiz will raise funds for Recovery Haven, the Kerry Hospice Foundation and Kerry Cancer Support.

10. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND WITH PARKRUN

WHY not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends? There are five parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel, Inch Beach and the Tralee junior parkrun.

These free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.

The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old.

People can register and print off their run barcodes at parkrun. ie.
