2020 starts this Friday evening in Cork
KERRY open their new inter county senior hurling season on this Friday, when they play Cork in the Co-Op Superstores Munster Senior Hurling League. The venue is Páirc Uí Rinn with a 7.30pm throw-in. Round 2 will be at home to Waterford on Sunday, January 5 at 2.30pm.
The Allianz Hurling League will commence with an away game against Mayo, in Castlebar on Saturday, January 25.
Schools
IN the Munster Post Primary Schools GAA U-19 E Hurling Semi-Final played on Thursday last, Mercy Mounthawk had a 2-13 to 1-11 win over Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí. Mercy Mounthawk will meet Tralee CBS in the Final on this Thursday, December 19 at Austin Stack Park, 6.30pm.
Meanwhile, in the U-19 B competition, Causeway Comprehensive School defeated Ballincollig Community School by 4-9 to 1-5. Well done to all involved, in particular to the teachers and school managers who facilitate hurling in the various schools.
Grants
MUNSTER GAA in conjunction with the GAA Central Council has announced details of the 2019 Development Grant Scheme, which has provided €1.3m in funding for Club and School capital development projects across the Munster.
Kerry hurling clubs to benefit include Ballyduff [for their wall ball], Lixnaw [for field development] and Kilgarvan. They were presented at County Convention by Ger McCarthy, Kerry Munster Council delegate.

CAUSEWAY Hurling Club has brought out a souvenir calendar to commemorate their 2019 County SHC success. It is available locally for €10.
The Kerry Camogie Christmas Draw will take place at The Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee on this Friday at 9pm and the Kerry & Clanmaurice 2019 Victory Social will take place at Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Sunday, December 29.
