The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Rockies end year on a high
THE Division 1 Final of the Credit Union County League certainly lived up to its billing as we were treated to a pulsating game that needed penalties to decide a winner!
At full-time Rathmore and Austin Stacks were level at 1-9 a piece. After extra time the teams remained level on a scoreline of 1-10 each. Up next – penalties! Rathmore scored three of their penalties and Austin Stacks netted four, making Austin Stacks the 2019 winners.
The winning trophy was presented by County Treasurer Tom Keane to team Captain Ronan Shanahan who thanked everyone involved in the win. Michael O’Donnell was presented with the Man of the Match Award for his performance on the day.
The win puts Austin Stacks back on top of the Roll of Honour, with eleven titles, after sharing it with Dr Crokes for the past year. Sixteen clubs in total have won Division 1 of the County League and only four clubs have won five or more titles.
Congratulations to Austin Stacks and commiserations to Rathmore who played admirably on the day.

Coiste Chontae Chiarraí PASSED
On the night Emma Sweeney, Ballymac was elected Assistant Secretary and has been given responsibility for developing a new Kerry GAA app along with investigating the possibility of live streaming games.
Liam Lynch became the new Development Officer and Eamon Whelan became the new Vice Chairperson. Patrick O’Sullivan, who is a former Chairman is the new Central Council Delegate. While it is wonderful to see new people getting involved, it is also difficult, as we say goodbye to valued members of the Executive. The Chairman thanked Diarmuid Ó Sé, John Joe O’Carroll and Fionnán Fitzgerald for their fantastic service to Kerry GAA.
Before the commencement of Convention, Gerard McCarthy and Eamon Whelan presented a large number of clubs and schools with Munster development grants. We are very thankful to the Munster Council for these grants and to the clubs for continually upgrading their facilities.
The night ended with the raffle and congratulations to John Griffin Caherciveen on winning the car! Wishing John many years of safe motoring!
