Create a Christmas Market theme...

-

GETTING that Christmas theme spot on at your wedding isn’t difficult once you’ve given it some thought and the latest craze to make its way into the big wide world of festive wedding themes is the catchy Christmas Market.

Naturally you needn’t take over the entire hotel lobby with giant marquees and stalls with tables creaking under the weight of wares and cauldrons of steaming mulled wine. No, the secret is to do all of the above at a reduced level. Little pretzel stalls and scented frankincense and myrrh, cinnamon, pine cones, wreaths, candy canes, tea lights and fairy lights draped across mock aisles is a start. The aim is make the festive market seem real, but the secret is to do it small as this will leave a bigger impression.

Another trick is to have little stalls stocked with gifts and mementos for guests to enjoy.

These gifts can be ‘Thank You’ messages or photos of you, your partner, children or pets. Small decorative candles with the date of the wedding inscribed is another good one. Of course a big winner will always be sweets!

Another use for a Christmas Market theme is later on that evening where you can use it to go one step further by serving portions of hot snacks. You can use the market either as a prelude or as an interlude to the wedding day as it works both ways with just a little pre-planning.

Maybe you’ve both been to a Christmas Market in the past that really appealed. If so, then sit down and think of all the things you liked most about it and apply them to your wedding day Christmas Market. It’s a brilliant way of bringing what is a magical outdoor Christmas tradition indoors.
