Causeway bowed out of the Munster intermedia­te club hurling championsh­ip at the quarter-final stage. The Kerry kingpins missed a lot of chances as Waterford champs Ballysagga­rt ran out 2-14 to 0-15 winners in Fraher Field in Dungarvan.

Dooks lifted the Kingdom Intermedia­te Shield title in an exciting tussle with Tralee, who were looking to do the double having previously lifted the senior shield. The Mid Kerry club. In Barrow, Dooks showed great composure to get the job done.

There was more heartbreak for the Kerry Under 17s as they lost out to Sligo Rovers in the final of the Air tricity Under 17 Shield in Mounthawk Park. Billy Dennehy’s side went down to a 1-2 defeat, but as ever showed great spirit in the contest.

They were 0-1 down at half-time and were soon a second goal down early in the second half. Curtains? Not a bit of it this Kerry team battled back and got a first back midway through the second half with a goal from a slightly scrappy corner-kick from Cian Brosnan went in off a defender and into the back of the net. No less than their efforts deserved.

Kerry tried their damnedest to fashion an equaliser and went close on a couple of occasions, but Sligo held on for the victory.

“I am very proud of the players. They are a credit to their clubs, county and families,” Dennehy said.

“Young players in the county deserve to be able to play the game at a decent level and the success story of this Under 17 team should inspire many more youngsters to play the game in Kerry.”

Clanmauric­e made it through to the All Ireland Junior Club Camogie Championsh­ip Final with a 0-11 to 0-3 victory over Ballmacnab of Armagh. In the final they faced off against Ratharney of Westmeath in McDonagh Park, Nenagh.

The North Kerry club started really strongly in the game and retired at halftime 0-7 to 1-0 in front. Alas they couldn’t maintain that momentum for the second half and they were hauled back for a 1-10 to 2-7 draw with a replay to follow the following weekend at the star t of December.

Templenoe got their Munster Club Intermedia­te Football Championsh­ip campaign off to a positive start with a 5-12 to 2-9 victory on their home patch in Templenoe. They followed up that success a week later with an impressive eight point victory over Cork kingpins Éire Óg on their home patch in Ovens – 1-17 to 0-12 – setting up a final at the beginning of December against Clare champions St Beckans.

Tralee CBS claimed the Taft Cup – Munster Under 15 colleges title – from rivals St Brendans College, Killarney on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-9 in a cur tainraiser to the County Senior Football Final in Austin Stack Park.

There was major disappoint­ment for Killarney’s Paul Nagle and his Waterford pilot Craig Breen when the bushfires in Australia caused the cancellati­on of the rally Down Under, costing the Munster pair a chance to stake a claim to a full-time drive for 2020. Their chances of a full-time return were fur ther dented with the news that Citroen were pulling out of the World Rally Championsh­ip, putting seats at a premium with a glut of talent to fill them.

Darragh Long and Declan Quill were unveiled as the new joint-managers of the Kerry senior ladies football team along with selectors Geraldine O’Shea and Annemarie O’Donoghue.

Na Gaeil made an impressive star t to provincial club championsh­ip action with a 2-11 to 2-3 victory over a disappoint­ing Kilshannig side in Mallow in the Munster quar ter-final setting up a home semi-final against Clare side Michael Cuasacks, whom they hammered on a scoreline of 3-20 to 0-2 to advance to the Munster final in Mallow.

Kilgarvan bowed out of the Munster Club Junior Hurling Championsh­ip at the quar ter-final stage going down to a 2-21 to 1-11 defeat at the hands of Cork champions Russell Rovers in Fitzgerald Stadium.

Causeway cruised to the County Senior Hurling League Division 1 crown with a 1-26 to 1-8 victory over St Brendans in Austin Stack Park.

Kerry went down to a 2-1 defeat to Clare in their second game of the Oscar Traynor Cup making their progress to the later stages in doubt having drawn their first game.

St Brendans saw off IS Killorglin to claim the O’Sullivan Cup (Kerry Colleges A Championsh­ip) on a scoreline of 3-18 to 1-12, while Coláiste Íde agus Josef, Abbeyfeale inspired by Paul Walsh claimed the Moynihan Cup title (Kerry Colleges B Championsh­ip) at PS Inbhearr Sceine on a scoreline of 0-17 to 1-10.

Killarney Celtic reached the semifinals of the Munster Champions Trophy with a 3-2 win over Waterford Hibernians in Celtic Park.
