Hotels on hunt for employees

HOTEL CHAINS SIGN UP TO SKDP-ORGANISED FEBRUARY HOTEL RECRUITMENT EVENT

A SOUTH Kerry Development Partnership hotel-recruitment event next month has secured more potential employers after a further three local hotel chains signed up for the February 6 event.

The Europe Group, O’Donoghue Ring Hotels, and the Randles Group are the latest chains to get involved. They will join the Aghadoe Heights, Cahernane, Gleneagle Group, the Great Southern, the Killarney Park Hotel, the Lake Hotel, and the Muckross Park Hotel as groups who have signed up to take part.

The event will match employees with job vacancies at these hotels, SKDP Enterprise Officer and event organiser Joanne Griffin explained.

She told The Kerryman that a venue and time will be confirmed in due course, once organisers get a feel for the numbers taking part.

“The event gives potential employees the chance to meet with a large number of employers over the course of the event and enables both the employees and potential employers to get to know each other in advance of entering into a formal work situation,” Ms Griffin said.

“It also offers people who may not have worked in the hotel sector before the chance to see what opportunities exist for them in the sector.”

Ms Griffin told The Kerryman that SKDP will run preparatory sessions with participants in advance of the day – adding to the importance of pre-registration.

The event is also open to those without previous experience of working in the sector.

Organisers pointed out that last year’s staging saw almost 40 per cent of the potential employees who attended secure long-term employment in the industry thereafter.

It is free to attend, although registration must be completed before February 4.
