Green see off Hamilton HS comfortably

-

CORN UÍ MHUIRÍ QUARTER-FINAL Tralee CBS 4-13 Hamilton HS, Bandon 0-7

BANDON had shown that they would prove formidable opposition as they headed into this one unbeaten, but that only served to whet Tralee’s appetite for the contest.

Tralee faced a stiff breeze in the first half, but once Seán Quilter fisted home Fergal O’Brien’s long ball after five minutes, the Green took complete control. Joe Lenihan and Conor Horan controlled midfield, the Tralee defence coolly soaked up any pressure, and Conor Hayes in particular was a real torment upfront.

Tralee led by 1-5 to 0-5 at half-time and, with the wind, the second half was one-way traffic. Darren O’Donovan and Seán Sexton did try hard for Bandon, but goals from Cian Purcell and Fergal O’Brien soon made the result a formality and, with Bandon losing two players to black cards in the latter stages, Jordan Kissane sliced through and finished neatly to put the seal on a very convincing victory.
