Zug Zwang continues winning habit for O’Regan

-

THE Collette O’Regan trained Zug Zwang set the standard for the SIS card on Sunday evening with an impressive showing against A1 company in Race 6. The Kilmoyley runner has certainly developed a winning habit of late and was full value for his length and a half success in 28.98 on a surface which was rated -.10 slow.

The early pace came from Payaway Rio who made a scorching start in the black jacket and the Keith Morton trained runner found himself four lengths clear of his rivals off the second bend.

Zug Zwang led the chasing pack and the 3/1 shot made a big impression down the back straight to close right up on the early leader rounding the closing bends. The winner challenged the lead off the final bend and easily drew clear passing the stand to score for the fourth time from twelve outings.

Also maintaining a winning sequence was the well supported Barrow Kempis who landed the spoils in Race 7 for popular Ardfert owner Mickey Collins. Trained by his good friend Jeremiah Hannifin, the winner gave his backers some anxious moments when appearing to have a lot to do passing halfway with Mileheight Matt setting a decent tempo up front.

However, the 9/4f edged ever closer approaching the third and he displayed terrific track craft to weave his way through the field between the final bends and force his way into the reckoning.

Early leader Mileheight Matt and Millridge Cody battled for supremacy on the rail, however Barrow Kempis came with a big run on the outside and finished best of all to score by a length and a half in 29.33. Mileheight Matt just edged Millridge Cody for the runner up slot.

Boom Mabe returned to winning ways for Anthony O’Sullivan when swooping late to deny early pace setter Confident Cavell in race 3. Indeed the latter appeared to have the measure of his rivals having led by a couple of lengths passing halfway, however Boom Mabe knuckled down to the task and took full advantage when the leader left the door open on the rail between the final curves and stayed on well to the line to stop the watch in 29.48.

Confident Cavell was three parts of a length back in second with Shrondraugh Rose completing the trio a further 2 ½ lengths in arrears.

Favourite backers went home happy when Pawsfordell came up trumps in the final race of the evening in 29.16. The well supported 7/4f made the perfect start from trap 3 and showed good early foot to lead at the opening bend. The leader saw his advantage further enhanced as trouble between the opening bends hampered the advance of the remaining runners.

Itsall Luckpolly went closest to spoiling the party when producing her usual kick from halfway, however the Joan Allen owned runner ran out of yards up the home straight and Pawsfordell took the chequered flag by a length for Deirdre Wren.

Also winning on the card were Bolus John 29.58, Nocturnal Stitch 29.66, Ballyverane Boy 29.39 and Conaic View Mini 29.44.
