-

DENNY DIVISION 1A Asdee Rovers 3 Strand Road 0

ASDEE Rovers moved up to second in the table with a good win over Strand Road at Craughdarrig Park on Sunday morning. Darragh Keane, Padraig O’Neill and Gavin Casey scored for the Shannonsiders.

Castlegregory Celtic 3 The Park 0

RUNAWAY league leaders Castlegregory extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points after a big win over second placed The Park in West Kerry on Sunday morning. Michael Scanlon, Jason Griffin and Damian McMahon scored for the winners.

Atletico Ardfert 1 Ballyheigue Athletic 0

ATHLETICO Ardfert continue to improve with every game and they collected another three points on Sunday after a narrow win over Ballyheigue Athletic in a tight game. A solitary goal was good enough to win the game and it was scored by Colin Walsh.

DENNY DIVISION 1B Castlemaine United 3 Killorglin ‘B’ 0

CASTLEMAINE United stay breathing down the necks of league leaders CSCB after notching up another three points in the local derby against Killorglin. This win makes it eight wins from 10 games and continues their 100% home record.

They were 2-0 ahead at half time following goals from Ciaran O’Connor on his weaker left leg and a headed effort from Wayne Coffey from an O’Connor corner-kick, which nestled in the bottom corner the net.

The result was sealed midway through the second half after a powerful shot by Dylan O’Neill was parried into the path of Wayne Coffey who had the simplest of finishes to knock in his 13th of the season in the league.

Pádraig O’Brien who came on for Jerome Flynn early on had a goal chalked off for offside in the 48th minute. Killorglin had a few good chances in the second half, but were met with an in-form Castlemaine goalkeeper in Nelu O’Doherty who stopped two almost certain goals saving both one on ones and making an incredible double save at a pivotal stage of the match when a goal might have brought the opposition back into the game.

It was a satisfying morning’s work for Castlemaine which puts them on 24 points just two points behind CSCB with two games in hand and four matches remaining in their league programme.

It is almost certain that these two sides will meet in the league final and will qualify with games to spare.

The only other side with an outside chance is Ballymac Celtic as they have a number of games in hand but as they have lost a few key players to immigration and that will diminish their prospects considerably.

CASTLEMAINE UNITED: Nelu O’Doherty, Mark Wren, Kieran Griffin, Pa Wren, Sean O’Dea, Seamus O’Dowd, Jono

O’Connor, Ciaran O’Connor, Dylan O’Neil, Jerome Flynn, Wayne Coffey Subs: Dara O’Connor for Sean O’Dea, Gavin O’Brien for Seamus O’Dowd, Eoin O’Mahony for Dylan O’Neil, Padraig O’Brien for Jerome Flynn, Cathal O’Connor for Wayne Coffey.

Castlemaine lined out in their new jerseys sponsored by Cronin’s Circle K Service Station.

Windmill United 5 Killarney Athletic ‘B’ 0

WINDMILL United made it two wins on the trot after easily accounting for Killarney Athletic B. Paudie Bailey, George Carnegie, David Kerins, Darragh Moriarty and Jason McCoy scored for the Blennerville side.

Inter Kenmare 2 CS Clochainn Breanainn 3

CSCB remain at the top of the table after a good win over Inter Kenmare in a good competitive game down in South Kerry. Michael O’Dowd, Gearoid Fitzgerald and Tadgh O’Connor scored for the West Kerry side while Darragh O’Siochru scored both of Inter Kenmare’s goals.
