The multi talented Sliabh Luachra Drama Group are all set to take to the stage with their new production for 2020. This year the group are presenting “It’s the Real McCoy” by Tommy Marren and it’s a comedy with plenty of laughs. The curtain goes up for the first performanc­e on this Friday night January 31st and will continue on Saturday and Sunday night February 1st and 2nd and again on the following week Friday, Saturday and Sunday February 7th, 8th and 9th with a starting time each night being 8pm. Bookings should be made to 087 7800208 and early booking is essential. Geraldine Piggott is the producer and it’s all systems go at this stage. They say ‘laughter is the best medicine’ so be sure to get to see this hilarious production. SUNDAY NIGHT DANCING

For the next few weeks the Sunday Night Dancing at Scartaglen Heritage Centre will move to The River Island Hotel in Castleisla­nd and the following are the forthcomin­g attraction­s at that venue: Sunday February 2 Ui Bhriain Band ; there will be a free draw on this night for 31 prizes. Sunday February 9 Mike Condon and his band Sunday February 16 Jerry McCarthy and Autumn Gold. Dancing as usual from 9pm to 11.30pm.

C.A.O. APPLICATIO­NS

Students who intend to pursue third level education next autumn are reminded that the closing date for CAO applicatio­ns is Saturday next February 1st at 5.15pm. It is expected that there will be over 80,000 applicants in excess of 48,000 college places available next August.

GAA LOTTO DRAW

Scartaglen GAA Clubs next Lotto Draw will be on Sunday night next February 2 in O Connors Bar when the jackpot will be E9,000.

RAMBLING HOUSE

The next monthly Rambling House session is in The Heritage Centre Scartaglen will be on Monday night February 10th at 8.30pm and as always everyone is welcome with free admission.

SPRING

This Saturday February 1st heralds in the season of Spring and St Brigids Day is always recognised as the first day of Spring. So from now on there will be a nice stretch in the evenings, mother nature starts to awaken from her long winter slumber and the daffodils will be in bloom. So all in all things will certainly be looking up and that’s something that will be welcomed by a great lot of people.

MOBILE LIBRARY

The mobile library will visit Scartaglen on this Thursday January 30th from 9.45am to 10.15am. This service is free.
