31ST JANUARY- 2ND FEBRU

ARY -Éigse an Brídeoige will be taking place across the Iveragh area from the 31st January to the 2nd February. The Theme of this year’s Éigse is Climate Change an there is wonderful events and speakers coming to the festival this year. In the Sea Lodge Hotel in Waterville the Opening Forum will take place at 2:30pm on Saturday 1st February with the focus being on ‘Responding to the Challenge of Climate Change.’ There will then be various speakers such as Rónán Ó Dálaigh from Extinction Rebellion, Sinéad Mercier a Climate Change Researcher and Cleo Murphy from The Green Party. There will then be two local students, Peadar Clark from Scoil an Ghleanna and Sophie Ní Dhálaigh Nic Eoin from Coláiste na Sceilge speaking about how climate change has had an impact on the local area.

On the same evening at 8pm, the Éigse’s Concert will also take place in the Sea Lodge Hotel with Ciarán Ó Maonaigh from Donegal on the fiddle and Caitlín Nic Ghabhann from Co. Meath on the concertina and also performing some Irish dancing on the night. To finish off proceeding­s there will be and informal singing and music session for local singers, dancers and musicians. Everyone welcome to what promises to be a wonderful night of music and craic.

FREE SEMINAR

How to Age Well- In an era where we are all expected to live longer, the GAA, Trinity College Dublin and Irish Life have come together to highlight the secrets to successful ageing through a series of regional seminars. The content will highlight themes including the importance of exercise, diet, social connectedn­ess, purpose, and location. This Free event takes place in the Rose Hotel, Tralee on Monday February 10th from 7pm-9pm.

A TRIBUTE NIGHT
