I am Ted Cronin, Independent For Animal Welfare Canditate in this Election. I am Deputy Leader for Party For Animal Welfare, Ireland’s newest Political Party.

We will be registered as an official party in Ireland in the next few weeks. I am married and a carer to my wife, Mary Horan. Mary has Multiple Sclerosis since 1991. She is my rock and inspiration, and I am blessed to have her. I am running to try and get animals a voice in Kerry and Ireland. I am looking for an end to all animal cruelty and blood sports.

There is an enormous amount of cruelty in the greyhound industry. Using live bait to blood greyhounds: rabbits and hares, kittens and lambs. Also there’s cruelty involved in hare coursing.

I am also against a proposed seal cull on the Blasket Islands. The fishermen and Michael Healy-Rae are calling for one. There is no scientific evidence that the protected Grey Seals on the Blasket Islands are causing a high loss to fish stocks.

I am also against fox hunting and live exports.

I believe our children should be educated on caring for animals. We should be using animals to improve our mental and physical health: for autism, ADHD, depression, loneliness, etc. We must research and educate our farmers on moving to plant-based farms, and educate people in moving to plant-based diets. I have been calling out for a film Ssudio to be built in Tralee. We have the beauty, the history, the coast, the hotels, the airport. Also the National Digital Skills Centre of Ireland is in Tralee. Therefore we have the experts for the film industry. I have done a lot of work for disabilities in Kerry.
