Rathmore Panto hands over funds to local charity
ONCE again the success of the annual Rathmore pantomime group will help young adults with disabilities across the county, with the funds being donated to Kerry Parents and Friends Association.
The local charity saw Government funding cut prior to Christmas, which has put the organisation under severe pressure to maintain its services.
However, in recent days it got good news thanks to the Rathmore pantomime group, The Marian Players, who handed the Kerry organisation with the proceeds of this year’s show – a massive total of €20,500.
This is a huge boost to Kerry Parents and Friends, who are very thankful for the support from the pantomime group.
This year’s pantomime, staged in the local community hall, was ‘The Old Woman who
Lived in a Shoe”, and it was a huge success, bringing plenty of laughter to the young and old who attended and who played a part in the production, which is a huge community effort.
Now that the dust has settled on this year’s event and the monies counted, the funds were presented to the chosen charity – Kerry Parents and Friends Association – in recent days.
The pantomime has long supported this organisation and was delighted to support it again this year.
Over the years substantial funds have been presented to Kerry Parents and Friends from the Marian Players, and this helps provide day-care, residential and respite services for the most vulnerable living in our county.
With the 2020 production now completed, the Marian Players will take a rest before returning in 2021.
