Conor’s great run of achievements

-

An Riocht AC athlete and Tralee native Conor O’Mahony has had what his club described as ‘an amazing run of recent achievements’ in events in various parts of the country.

Newly elected club PRO Catherine O’Sullivan tells us that Conor finished in fourth place and just missed out on a medal in the National Novice Cross Country race in Dunboyne Co Meath in December.

And, just last Saturday, he went on to run in the national intermediate championships in Rathdrum Co. Wicklow and won the race while out-running the three athletes who were placed ahead of him in the Meath race just two months before.

“This ranks highly in the list of fine achievements by An Riocht distance runners over the years,” said Ms O’Sullivan. “Apart from that achievement at the weekend, Conor has had a great year as he won the county road championships in Kenmare in February 2019 and he was chosen to represent Ireland in the 2019 international Snowdon Mountain Running Race in July,” she continued.

“He won the county senior cross county championships in Firies in October 2019 and added various road races in the past year.

His list of wins includes the Rose of Tralee 10K for the second year ‘running’ and the prestigious Farranfore Maine Valley 5k Race on St Stephen’s Day, followed a few days later with and win in the Beaufort New Years Day 10k for the second year.

“On top of all of this, Conor is very humble, trains hard and is really committed to his club.
