UHK ready to dance the night away

- By FERGUS DENNEHY

FOLLOWING on from two hugely successful outings the last two years, it’s once again almost time for the return of UHK’s ‘Sickly Come Dancing’ fundraising event.

This year’s outing is called ‘Sickly Come Dancing - The Relapse’ and will be taking place in the Ballygarry House Hotel on Friday March 27 and as evidenced from the photo above, the hospital has once more managed to secure 12 willing volunteers ready to take to the dancefloor.

This year’s batch of volunteers will be hoping to emulate the success dancers in previous years who have successfully raised tens of thousands of euro for the hospital.

Helping them to take that step from normal life to the dancefloor will be choreographer Honor Hurley and under her guidance, they will surely become fleet footed experts in no time at all.

All of the money raised from this year’s show will be going towards helping the ongoing costs of redeveloping the Coronary Care Unit / High Dependency Unit of UHK.

Lending his vocal talents to the occasion will be Terrace Talk host Tim Moynihan who will operating in the role of MC on the night.

The 12 brave couples taking part on the big night are: John O’Leary and Janet Grunau; Barry Twomey and Fiona Colgan; Tim O’Sullivan and Elma O’Brien; Joe Collins and Breda Twomey; Ken Galvin and Lorraine Hobbert; Roel Villons and Joann Malik; Alan Kearney and Jean Slemon; Declan Corcoran and Carmel Quinland; Dr Omar and Lynda McCarthy; Dan Sheehy and Ann Marie Dowling; Billy O’Donoghue and Niamh Murphy; Darragh Crowley and Samantha Stackpoole
