The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
TheKerryman is here to help you keep connected
Dear Reader
During this very difficult period, these are uncertain and challenging times with Coronavirus now affecting everyone’s life in some way. So I wanted to write to you to let you know what we are doing here at The Kerryman to keep our staff safe and our readers and advertisers informed. The Kerryman is committed to keeping Kerry and its surrounding counties connected with the latest news, updates and other information, not only about Coronavirus, but also other items that are important to you, our readers; your family; your business. The Kerryman has been delivering quality journalism and quality features since 1904 and will continue to do so, even in this challenging period.
At present, all of our staff will work remotely from home. This will safeguard not only them, but also you, the public, and can minimise the risk of spreading infection. This decision will have no impact on producing the weekly paper; we are well equipped to allow staff to operate in this way and, in so doing, it is business as usual for all.
It is a particularly worrying time for families, and we can assure you that your memoriam, acknowledgements, anniversaries and all other services are continuing to operate as normal. If you wish to place a notice, simply email ads@kerryman.ie or call 066 714 5500. For Editorial, you can get in touch by emailing khughes@kerryman.ie, Also feel free to contact me directly at smurphy@kerryman.ie
We ask all our readers to take a little extra time to consider any elderly or vulnerable neighbours that you know may be in need of any help or provisions. Even provide them with a copy of The Kerryman. It may be their only connection with the outside world. We can all assume somebody else is doing this when, in reality, somebody could be alone and lonely.
At this difficult time, it is important that we support our local businesses by, for example, buying a voucher from a local business as a gift; ordering from your local supermarket for home delivery; or visiting your local store, whilst using common sense and adhering to the safety guidelines in place. In the coming weeks, we will all need to do our bit to help our local economy.
We appreciate the support we have received from everyone over the years, and we continue to pledge our support for you, and the people of Kerry and surrounding counties as we all work together to get through these strange and difficult times... which we will.
Thank you and keep safe.
Siobhán Murphy, General Manager The Kerryman Group
