COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Two parish organisations have offered to give assistance to any parishioners who due to the Coronavirus crisis would wish to avail of it.

Templeglantine Community Alert can be contacted at 069 84039 or 087 6131470 if there is anyone in the community, who due to being housebound or in self-isolation, wishes to have groceries delivered from the local shops to their door. All you have to do is place your order with the shop and then contact the numbers given above.

Templeglantine GAA is setting up a Community Assistance Group to help with groceries and other requirements for those who may feel uncomfortable travelling for their shopping or would like someone checking in on them. The club is circulating an information leaflet to houses.

CÚRSAÍ EAGLAISE

For the first time ever mass in our local church was streamed live on the internet through the three parishes Facebook site on Saturday evening last.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak the customary mass with congregation in attendance has been suspended.

On Saturday evening last the congregation sat in their own homes and this included some natives of the three parishes who joined in from abroad. Thanks to

Fr Denis, Catherine and others who helped to bring this about.

Evening Adoration will take place in Templeglantine Church on Wednesday 7 - 8pm with Rosary at 7.30pm which will be broadcast to the house bound on the home radio system. All wishing to attend are reminded that it will take place in the church and not in the sacristy. This will allow ample space and the observance of social distancing. Beannacht Dé orainn go léir in am an gháthair seo.

COMHALTAS

As a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic the weekly classes of music, singing and dancing at Halla Inse Bán have been suspended until further notice. All pupils are encouraged to continue the practise of their tunes, songs and dance steps at home. Now that the schools are closed pupils should set aside a period each day for perfecting what has been given to them over recent months.

It also gives an opportunity for those to prepare for the SCT music exams. Lean ar aghaidh leis an gceol, rince agus amhránaíocht sa bhaile agus tabhair taitneamh dod’ mhuintir sna laethannta gruama seo.

BUSY TRAIL

The Great Southern Greenway has never been so busy as it has been over the past two weeks. Many are availing of the wide open space to get sone fresh air and exercise.

It is a wonderful facility and is widely availed of by parents of children who now have no school to attend. The much improved weather over the past week has been a big help in encouraging more people to take to the outdoors.
