The St John of God Service is looking for help

- By STEPHEN FERNANE

THE Saint John of God Service in Kerry is urgently looking for support as it works to stave off the challenges faced by COVID-19.

They are currently looking for a panel of relief staff to help the service during this critical time.

At present, everything on the campus is stable and residents are receiving plenty of support from colleagues through its day services and its children services.

St John of God Services is doing all it can in the fight to prevent the virus impacting on residents and staff, and the public are being asked to lend their support if possible.

If you are a qualified nurse, social-care worker, care assistant or would like to help in household or catering and are interested in supporting the service in the current crisis, contact them via email at SJOGKerry.Recruitment@ sjog.ie with your CV and a cover letter; or phone 066 712 4333 (#212). St John of God Services would also like nursing students who have completed their first year in college, and social care workers who have completed their second year in college to come on board as care assistants.

St John of God’s will offer temporary/relief contracts and, if the need arises, will offer hours to those suitably qualified/ skilled and available. Parents and Relatives Association Chairperson Jack Fitzpatrick said all family visitation rights have been suspended at St Mary of the Angels since early March.

“It’s heartbreaking for residents and families but it’s the right thing to do. The centre urgently needs additional staff and volunteers,” he said. “Families are very grateful to the management and staff for all they’re doing at this difficult time,” he added.
