COMMUNITY RESPONSE

We are living in unpreceden­ted times at present due to the Covid 19 virus. During these tough times all elderly persons or all those with underlying medical conditions who don’t have family members to help them, can have their shopping or medical prescripti­ons collected and delivered by community volunteers in the parish of Castleisla­nd and surroundin­g areas. If you need help with these errands please feel free to contact andof the community liaison officers who will in turn contact a volunteer in your area. The community liaison officers are as follows: Castleisla­nd Charlie Farrelly (087) 2056150, Cordal Richard O Donoghue (087) 2285653, Scartaglen Tom Boyle (087) 2485038. All volunteers will be complying with HSE guidelines.

SITUATION REGARDING MASSES

Until further notice and as directed by Bishop Ray Browne there will be no public masses celebrated at weekends or weekdays. Mass will be celebrated in Castleisla­nd Parish Church on weekdays at 11am and on Sundays at 11.30am, 6.15pm Vigil Mass on Saturdays without a congregati­on. One can watch these masses live from Castleisla­nd church. (click on church and type Castleisla­nd) or check on ‘Whats On Now’ which gives times of masses throughout the country. One can also listen to mass from Castleisla­nd church on the parish radio. No mass will be celebrated in Cordal or Scartaglen churches until further notice.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions and best wishes are extended to Anna Brosnan, daughter of the late Timothy and Mary Brosnan, Castleisla­nd and Stevie Smith, son of Dan and the late Maureen Smith of Knocknagos­hel who were married in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglen on Saturday March 14. Anna and Stevie held their reception in The Brehon Hotel, Killarney and the couple will reside in Castleisla­nd.
