Putting pen to paper in praise of Kerry’s frontline medical workers

- BY SINEAD KELLEHER

THE kind words of praise and support for Kerry’s health-workers, who are fighting the Covid-19 pandemic on a daily basis, are helping them get through each difficult day.

No-where have the devastating effects of the pandemic been seen more than at University Hospital Kerry where hundreds of staff are tasked with dealing with the ever-changing crisis.

But their difficult task is not being overlooked as hundreds of postcards from the public have arrived at the hospital thanking the staff for their hard work and dedication in helping to save lives.

From all corners of the county messages of gratitude are arriving to UHK on a daily basis.

From Tuosist, Killarney, to Listowel and Tralee and every town and village in between, children and adults have put pen to paper to thank the doctors and nurses who have worked so tirelessly to help during the current crisis.

“You a credit to your country,” said one postcard.

“Thank you for what you are dong for the people of Kerry, “was another message.

The postcard initiative was launched by An Post to help keep open the channels of communication in this difficult time and many have chosen to use their free postcard to offer words of support to those battling on the front-lines.

This kindness has helped staff at UHK remain upbeat in this current crisis.

General Manager of UHK, Ferghal Grimes, thanked the public for their messages.

“We want to thank everyone in Kerry for their ongoing support for the team in UHK. The postcard messages and generous donations coming in for the staff in the hospital mean an incredible amount to all of us,” he said.
