Solid foundation for Construction Studies exam

-

LIKE all us Technology and Practical teachers, the students who choose our subjects value the Project work and Practical Exam components of their assessment.

SO, in the case of many students, they are concerned and anxious at a time where they cannot engage with these components.

Ye,s the undertaking of these Practical Exams and Project work may not be as certain as it once was.

However, you must recognise that, sometimes, all you can control is your effort and your attitude, and with that, what is certain is that there will be an examination.

So, put your energy into the things you can control and prepare for this examination.

The Construction Studies paper offers you great choice in question selection, with Question One (the drawing question) being the only compulsory question.

You’ll have a choice of nine other questions, and you need to do just four.

Look at the questions frequency over the last number of years and cherry-pick your topics.

My top tips would be: In your preparation for the compulsory drawing question remember that question seven is also a drawing question.

Question five, ‘U-Values’, comes up every year, so it would be foolish to ignore.

And, finally, if you study the topic of Sustainability/ Eco-Development/NZED, this will serve you well, as questions three, six and ten have lent heavily upon this area in recent years. This gives you five question options for just three revision topics.

Nothing is ever guaranteed, so do not limit your efforts to these topics, but they are a firm starting point.
