MUNSTER SENIOR B FC Winner: Coláiste na Sceilge Runner-Up: Col Choilm Ballincollig

COLÁISTE na Sceilge, managed by Gillian Fitzgerald, lost out in the latter stages with a very young team. However, with the bulk of that team back including talent like Mary Ellen Bolger, Ellie O’Connell, Siofra O’Shea, Rachel Dwyer, and Ava O’Sullivan, they started this year with real ambition and it has borne rich fruit. They beat Coláiste Dun Iascaigh comfortably in the quarter-final. Christ the King were a tougher test in the semi-final but Coláiste na Sceilge gotthroughit

On the other side Coláiste Choilm Ballincollig saw off St. Bridgets Killarney by 4-11 to 3-3 to set up what looked like being a tioght contest. It wasn’t – Coláiste an Sceilge had first half goals from Shannon O’Donnell,

Cliona Murphy, Ava O’Sullivan and Siofra O’Shea, with O’Shea and Mary Beth O’Donoghue on target again in the second half for a 6-7 to 0-10 victory.

The Coláiste na Sceilge Junior team also reached the Munster Junior B Final, but were beaten on the day.

MUNSTER JUNIOR ‘E’ FC

MEAN Scoil Castlegregory beat Killarney Community College and St. Josephs Ballybunion to qualify out of Kerry and saw off Millstreet in the Munster quarter-final. However, Coláiste Ghobnatan Ballyvourney had too much for them in a hard-fought semi-final.

KERRY POST-PRIMARY SCHOOLS LEAGUE

THE brainchild of Killorglin CC teachers Noreen O’Rahilly and Ilona O’Dowd, the Kerry Schools League is aimed towards those schools who are all too often eliminated at the start of cup competitions and end up with only one game. The League gives these schools five games plus a final for the top two and ensures that girls get a decent amount of inter-spaced games. Castleisland CC won it in its inaugural year of 2018, while Killorglin CC are the reigning champions from last year. The competition started brightly this year but does’t look like being completed.
