O’SULLIVAN CUP Winner:St.Brendan’s Runner-Up: IS Killorglin
A GREAT competition in its own right, and also a real harbinger of the year to come. With Tralee CBS and PS Chorca Dhuibhne both looking talented but unpredictable, it was the last two Frewen champions St. Brendans (2018) and IS Killorglin (2019) who reached the final. St. Brendans had dominated their semi-final against Sliabh Luachra but struggled to put them away, while IS Killorglin had Sean O’Brien in top form as they saw off Mounthawk.
The Sem built up a big lead throughout the game, but a dramaticcomeback inspired by Gearóid Hassett gave Killorglin hope. It wasn’t to be; The Sem closed it out wirth a Ryan O’Grady goal. Emmet O’Shea, Ryan O’Grady (1-4), William Shine (1-3) and Dylan Callaghan (0-4) scored all but two of St. Brendans’ total. Final score 3-18 to 1-12
MOYNIHAN CUP Winner: Coláiste Ide agus Iosef Abbeyfeale Runner-Up: PS Inbhearr Sceine
PAUL Walsh and Dylan Quirke gave Abeyfeale a lead of 0-8 to 0-4, a Corey Murphy goal for Kenmare cut it back and it was 0-9 to 1-6 at half-time. Four points in a row on the restart gave Abbeyfeale a lead they would never again relinquish, winning out eventually on a 0-17 to 1-11 scoreline.
MOYNIHAN SHIELD Winner: Gaelcholáiste Ciarraí 1-12 Runner-Up: Mean Scoil Castlegregory
GAELCHOLÁISTE Chiarraí went in as favourites and ended up with the Shield after winning by 1-12 to 1-6, but Castlegregory showed plenty of quality and would go on to prove it in Munster later.
DUNLOE CUP Winner: Presentation Milltown Runner-Up: St. Brendans College
CILLIAN Burke gave impetus to Milltown’s challenge with an early goal and they led by 1-7 to 0-5 at the break. The Sem tried hard, but a simply stunning goal by Cian Doe on the three-quarter mark proved crucial, with Milltown winning their first ever Dunloe Cup by 2-13 to 0-8.
DUNLOE SHIELD
TWO very talented young sides faced off in the Dunloe Shield – IS Killorglin won it out by 5-14 to 2-12, but it would be no surprise to see some of these players as team-mates in green and gold in time to come.
JOE O’CONNOR CUP Winner: Gaelcholáiste Ciarraí Runner-Up: Coláiste na Sceilge
EARLY goals by Muiris Ó Conaill and Seán Ó Conchúir gave Gaelcholáiste the upper hand. Coláiste na Sceilge had a penalty saved but still managed to trim it to 2-3 to 0-6 at half-time. However, three points on the trot by the Tralee side gave them a lead that they would never relinquish, winning out on a 2-11 to 0-10 final score.
JOE O’CONNOR SHIELD Winner: St. Michael’s Listowel Runners-up: Tarbert Comp
BOTH sides knew how to score, but IS Killorglin were that little fraction sharper and won an entertaining contest by 2-15 to 3-7.
