O’Donoghue is the glue that keeps club together

-

CLUB secretary and team manager Donal O’Donoghue is another work horse at the club and he ensures that everything in running smoothly.

He is doing a splendid job as secretary of the club and he sends in the results every week to me and always gives an honest account of the games whether his side win or lose.

He has served the club extremely well over the years as a player also and his loyalty remained robust through thick and thin periods.

He was always there to do the menial jobs such as lining and preparing the pitch every week and ensuring that all the squad are well informed regarding fixtures.

Over the years he has built up a great relationship with the players and this bond remains even when players retire.

He is the glue that has kept the club together over the past two decades and he is very highly regarded by all the squad and club officials.

He gives a huge amount of his spare time promoting the game in the area and is held in the highest regard by senior and underage players.

He does all this work without seeking any recognition but simply for his love of the game and his interest in the welfare of the local community.

He has no intention of retiring anytime soon as he is getting great pleasure from the job he is doing.

He has witnessed that club attaining many great feats over the years but he always sets the barometer high and has many more accomplishments to complete before he decides to call it a day.

• A special word of thanks to Donal O’Donoghue for providing much of the information for this feature.
