Ballyhar Dynamos underage club is another wonderful success story

- BY MIKE RICE

ANTHONY McKenna is the present club schoolboy league secretary liaising with Coaches from U-11s to U-16s. The club now has teams at all age groups up to U16s.The academy section is fronted by Dan and Eileen Quilter with a large number of academy coaches.

With the club having its own base it makes things easier to organise and coach kids.

While the club did have a small number of teams in the 1980’s and 1990’s it was with the facilities in place that the game became more popular and structured at local level.

The club’s first Schoolboy title was won in April 2008 when a Tony Moloney and Frank Fell coached U-11 team were crowned Division 1 champions.

2013 saw the U-14 team reach the last 16 of the National Cup which was a notable achievement. Five of that squad are now playing regularly with the senior team. Carty Donohoe, James O’Driscoll, Noel Kenny and Anthony Sheedy were in charge of the squad.

James o Donoghue, Niall Donohue, Patrick Daly, Dara Donohoe, Patrick O’Connor and Peter Cosgrave have all represented the club on Kerry’s Kennedy Cup teams since 2010.

Patrick O’Connor and Conor Henderson were selected on the Kerry Airtricity U-17 Squad for the season 2019 while Patrick O’Connor has been selected to play with the Kerry U-19 Airtricity squad for this season 2020.

The club has had a number of league and shield victories over the past decade.

The club are grateful to the parents and club coaches who put in so much time weekly for training and at weekends in ensuring that games are played.
