Joy as missing dog is found

FAMILY’S EXTENSIVE SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN PROVES SUCCESSFUL IN FINDING MISSING BOXER PUPPY

- By FERGUS DENNEHY

RELIEF was the overriding emotion in the O’Connor house in Faha last week as they were re-united with their eight-month-old puppy, Rubble, who had been missing for almost four days.

The puppy had gone missing along with the family’s other dog, Coco, a labradoodle, but while Coco was found later that same night, it would be a longer and more anxious wait for the Faha family until Rubble was finally located safe and sound.

Thankfully though, after an extensive social media campaign, the beautiful boxer puppy was found safe and sound last Wednesday, much to the delight of his owners, Jonathan and Shauna O’Connor, and their kids, Joshua and Callum.

When asked what the mood was like in the house when news reached them that Rubble had been located, Jonathan said that it was one of relief.

“Delighted. We were over the moon, really, because at that stage it had been over three days he had been missing. After that long, you do start to lose a bit of hope. The confidence in finding him was starting to fade,” said Jonathan, speaking to The Kerryman this week.

“The kids were delighted to see him because, as I said, after that long, it’s rare that you get them back, and you start to wonder if something happened to him, especially because he is so young,” he said.

As for the future, Jonathan said that they’ve got every inch of the garden fenced off now, and they’ll be keeping an extra close eye on young Rubble from here on out.
