Family man Daniel will be missed by all
DANIEL Francis Cotter: native of Knockbrack, Knocknagoshel, County Kerry, Ireland, passed away at the age of 87 on Monday, June 8, 2020.
Dan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bridget (Breda) Cotter; his son, Nicholas Cotter; Kathleen Caffrey and her husband, Philip; Bridget Colendenski and her husband, John; Siobhan Dominy and her husband, Mark; his grandchildren, Kathryn and Krisanne Caffrey; John, Julia, Bridget and Caitlin Colendenski; and Sean and Brendan Dominy.
Dan was predeceased by his brothers, Nicholas, Richard, Patrick, Christopher, Michael, JohnJoe, James and Denis.
He is survived by his sister; Kathleen Cotter, sister-in-law, Margaret Cotter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dan proudly served for two years in the United States Military.
Dan raised his family in East Brunswick, where he volunteered as an usher at St Thomas the Apostle Church, in which the Cotters worshipped weekly. Dan was a founding member of the Brunswick Shamrock Club, which held an annual fund-raiser for project children, as well as the Friendly Sons of Shillelagh and the Kerryman Association. Dan worked with the railroad his whole career, starting with Hudson and Manhattan railroad, which was absorbed to become PATH. He greatly enjoyed his work of 38 years and retired as a signals-chief maintenance supervisor.
Dan often entertained his family and friends with his singing. His favourite song was Mother Malone, as well as a namesake song, Danny Boy. Dan enjoyed his retirement with Breda, playing golf, vacationing with his family and traveling.
Services private due to COVID-19 restrictions, held under the direction of Higgins and Bonner Funeral Home.
