Tripartite role for chairman Ken Tydings

-

THE Asdee club elected their youngest ever chairman last year with Kenneth Tydings taking over the reins at the age of 27.

He has a three-pronged role because he is also a player and a member of the three-man management team. He has been playing with the team since 2007 and joined up with his brother Owen and Joseph O’Brien in a three-man management team.

“I am new to this role and it will take me a bit to find my feet, but I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. I have been involved in the management of the team for three years also and we have a young squad that is growing in confidence. We have been promoted numerous times as runners-up but winning that elusive league title has evaded us so far.

“Our major aim now is to get over that stumbling block in the not too distant future. We have lost three league Finals in recent years to Fenit, Killorglin and Listowel Celtic. We are still in contention for the league title this season in Division 1A. We have a big squad of 34 players at present and we will be considering forming a B side next season.

“My role will be to keep improving our facilities and install a better lighting system for team training. We would also like to get our underage Academy up and running again. We’ve numerous fundraising ideas for the future and we are very grateful to all the people that have supported the club down through the years, be it buying lotto tickets or just showing up on a Sunday morning to cheer us on.

“We’ve have had a lot of great sponsors down thought the years and the last two seasons Stephan Galvin of Mikey Joes Bar in Ballybunion has come on board and kitted the senior team out. We are excited looking ahead winning a league title is our main objective,” he added.
