Water: Irish Water has confirmed that a National Water Conservation Order commonly referred to as a hosepipe ban will be in place from Tuesday 9 June until Tuesday 21 July. Here are some tips to conserve water: Turn off the tap when you are brushing your teeth or shaving, save up to 6 litres of water per minute. : An average shower uses 10 litres of water, taking a shorter shower will save lots of water. : Run your washing machine and dishwasher with full loads and save water and energy. Instead of running the cold tap for a cool drink, keep a jug of water in the fridge. This could save up to 10 litres of water per day. : Place a basin in your sink so when you rinse or wash food you can collect the water and use it for watering plants. : Water your plants in the early morning or late evening. This saves water evaporating and avoids scorching your plants too. Install a water butt to harvest rainwater from your gutters for watering your garden. Lockdown Clearout: Have you been emptying wardrobes and doing a clear out during this lockdown. Kilgarvan GAA would really appreciate it if you could please keep bags of any unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, curtains, towels, sheets for them. They will arrange for collection or drop off point. Please let secretary JoAnn Murphy know 087 989 3133 if you have any bags for collection and they will be in contact. Domestic Abuse: The Covid-19 pandemic has unfortunately highlighted the fact that many people are now trapped at home with domestic violence. If you know of someone in your community that needs help please contact the relevant authorities. The Covid-19 travel restriction does not apply to victims of abuse. COCOONERS

Advice for cocooners has changed. It is now possible to meet people from another household. Ideally choose a small social group and try to limit your meetings to these same 6 people. This will help to reduce your risk of getting corona virus. If you have a specific condition which means your doctor has advised against meeting other people, always follow your doctor’s advice. Meeting people indoors: You can have up to 6 visitors to your home or you can visit another household. You should wear a face covering when you meet with anyone indoors. This includes visitors and people you visit. The people you meet should: keep at least 2 metres away from you if possible, wear a face covering if they cannot maintain a 2 metre distance, wash their hands and follow good hygiene practices. If you choose to visit other people’s homes, tell them in advance that you are coming. Make sure that no one in the household is unwell with corona virus symptoms. You should stay 2 metres away from other people and wash your hands on returning home. You should wear a face covering if you cannot maintain a 2 metre distance. After visitors leave, it is good practice to clean surfaces they have been in contact with. Use your usual household cleaning agents and detergents. Meeting people outdoors: If you choose to meet people you should, only meet up to 6 people, only meet for very short periods of time, keep a distance of 2 metres between you and other people in the group, wash your hands when you get back home. Going for a walk: If you go for a walk, you should, stay local, keep a distance of 2 metres between you and other people, avoid other people as much as possible, avoid surfaces, avoid shaking hands and wash your hands when you get back home. Shopping, If you are cocooning, it is best to ask friends or family to go grocery shopping for you.

This is because it can be hard to keep a 2 metre distance between you and other people in shops. If you choose to go shopping, you should, go during the dedicated shopping hours for people who are cocooning, check these with your local supermarket, follow strict social distancing guidelines, keeping a distance of 2 metres between you and other people, wear a face covering if possible.
