CARA Credit Union gladly backing support initiatives throughout C-19
CARA Credit Union has donated €6,500 to Meals on Wheels in Castleisland, Tralee and Killorglin since March.
“Cara Credit Union was the first sponsor to support our work within days of the lockdown in March, and we are delighted that they have continued to do so every month since we began our COVID-19 Response,” said Paddy Kevane, Meals on Wheels, Tralee and surrounding areas.
To date Cara Credit Union has donated €6,500 over four months to: Meals on Wheels Tralee; Saint Vincent de Paul in Castleisland and Killorglin; Castleisland Day Care Centre; Knocknagoshel Meals on Wheels; Killorglin Family Resource Centre and Tralee Soup Kitchen.
“We would support these community groups throughout the year, but our priority back in March when the lockdown was announced that the most vulnerable in our society would be looked after during the pandemic,” said CEO Cara Credit Union Pa Laide.
“We contacted Meals on
Wheels Tralee just before St
Patrick’s Day and the members were busy at the time putting necessary measures in place, sourcing chefs, supplies etcetera.
“In the four months they have gone from serving 70 meals over a weekend to delivering 1,450 meals a week,” said Mr Laide.
“Additionally, we contacted these vital services in Castleisland, Killorglin, Knocknagoshel and Killorglin Family Resource Centre and Tralee Soup Kitchen and have continued to work with them by way of donations over the past four months since the lock-down.
“It was also great to see all the community and voluntary groups in Kerry along with many volunteers, including those from the hospitality industry come together to form the COVID-19 Community Response, whose work has been phenomenal.
“They have linked into the meals and wheels initiative in our local areas to ensure that everyone in our community has access to services, and we were delighted to assist in whatever way we could and are delighted to continue to do so,” Mr
Laide concluded.
