SCOIL SAIDHBHIN:

The Parents Association of Scoil Saidhbhin would like to show their appreciation and thank the following people for all their help since lockdown with the organising and delivery of the school food packages. Thanks to Kathleen, Vincent and all in Devlins Centra for organising and delivering everything to us. To Jeffrey Quirke for the use of The Kerry Coast which allowed us to pack the food while being able to socially distance. To Dave for having the doors open for us and helping with the lifting and moving of the bags and to all the parents who volunteered to help. Special thanks goes to Eileen, Laoise and Kieran Driscoll for giving up their time and doing all the deliveries. This was a real Community effort and lifted the spirits for everyone involved. It wouldn’t have been possible without all of your help. Go raibh Míle maith agat.

DANIEL O CONNELL SUMMER SCHOOL

It is with regret that the Daniel O Connell Summer School that was due to take place at the end of July/start of August 2020 has been cancelled. Hopefully it will be back up and running next year. months.

Our coaches have worked away providing online challenges for our younger members while our players have kept themselves in shape ahead of the season ahead.

For many, life has not been easy and our members have tried to help them as best they could. This help arrived in the shape of assistance with weekly shopping and running various other errands. Whatever it was, it was much appreciated.

While the pandemic persisted, life also went on - for some it was especially difficult losing loved ones in this time of social distancing. As a club, we want to sympathise with the families of those who passed away during this period.

PITCH REOPENS: The Cromane GAA pitch – as per GAA guidelines issued over the weekend – will reopen for adult training on Wednesday, June 24. This is a welcome development as we slowly build back up to a sense of normality, depending on circumstances of course.

The pitch will reopen for minor other underage training from Saturday, June 27.

GAA COVID E-LEARNING MODULE: The pitch reopening and the initial training sessions are on a non-contact basis. These sessions will take place on the understanding that players and all participants have completed the GAA eLearning module.

The module takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Those who pass a simple quiz will be able to generate a certificate of completion.

You should print – or take a screen-grab of this certificate – to show to Covid Supervisors that you are compliant for the teams you are involved with before their return. The Covid-19 Club Education eLearning module for Gaelic Games is available here: https:// courses.gaa.ie/Covid19ClubEd

All bookings must be done online. Numbers are also limited so please book as soon as possible. This is the website link: https:// www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/

FIXTURES: We have one confirmed fixture on the horizon and that is our County Junior Football Championship preliminary round game against Ballylongford. It is provisionally fixed for Friday, July

Now that shops and businesses are reopening we would encourage our club members to shop local, especially with our club sponsors. They have experienced a tough time over the past three months, some closing for the entirety, it’s now time for us to support them.

TRACING

Received this email from Mary Theresa Hughes on facebook

Perhaps someone may have some information that would help her.

Mary Theresa Hughes Mum is 85 now. Born 5th May 1935 to a Hanna Griffin in Killorglin in Kerry and was named Mary, and was fostered, she came to England at 16 and met her mother and found out that she had a sister but she did not know about mum. The mother and daughter worked at Hammersmith Hospital in London, in the fifties they both disappeared from her life almost 70 years ago. I know the power of Facebook yields results so if this can be shared far and wide and just maybe her sister if she is still here or one of her family might see this, a long shot I know I found out today that mum was born in Beaufort, Killarney, and her mother was living in Cromane, Killorglin at the time as a servant. We think then she decided to come to England.
