A busy year ahead says Cllr Flynn
CLLR John Francis Flynn, who is the newly elected Cathaoirleach of the Kenmare Municipal District said that health will be one of the key issues he will be campaigning on as the country begins to open up again following the Covid-19 lock-down.
“We need to get hospitals and the health system up and running again for procedures, scans and treatments as soon as possible,” he said.
He said that this year will be an exceptionally busy year as the county gets back to normal and that he hopes to help the Kenmare Municipal District region get back on his feet again.
Cllr Flynn, was elected as expected into the role, after he was nominated by Cllr Norma Moriarty and seconded by Cllr Michael Cahill. Cllr Flynn (Fianna Fáil) is a former Cathaoirleach of the old South and West Kerry Municipal District and was first elected to Kerry County Council in 2014.
Cllr John Francis Flynn also remembered his director of elections Liam Crowley, the well-known Killorglin solicitor who passed away in recent weeks.
Tributes were paid to outgoing Cathaoirleach Dan McCarthy who councillors said was always fair. He has now been selected as Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District.
