Dingle Skellig re-opening on a winning note
THE Dingle Skellig Hotel will be re-opening this Friday, July 3, and even though it won’t quite be back to the way things were, it will be a huge boost to the famous hotel looking out onto Dingle Bay.
But in a further boost to the team at the Skellig, the hotel has picked up two prestigious awards: the Irish Family Hotel of the Year prize for 2020, and a ‘Great Place to Stay Quality Award’.
Miriam Fitzgerald of the Dingle Skellig Hotel described the news as a shot in the arm ahead of re-opening.
“We had a ‘mystery shopper’-style visit in January, and we got a report back after that – and we found out recently that we’d actually won,” Miriam told The Kerryman. “It’s obviously a great boost for staff. Our family facilities always get really good feedback. It’s another stamp of approval, and an amazing achievement in terms of the family market, which can be a challenging and very competitive market.”
The Skellig’s offerings will be opening by reservation only this Friday, with the likes of lunch, dinner, spa treatments, Kids Club, and leisure facilities requiring pre-booking, Miriam explained.
The ground-floor of the hotel has been re-configured also in a further effort to adhere to all social-distancing protocols.
In the meantime, the hotel’s award-winning efforts are further cause for celebration for staff at the hotel, and General Manager Graham Fitzgerald had particularly strong praise for the Kids Club and crèche teams.
“Our guests have become accustomed to our very high family standards over the years”, Mr Fitzgerald said.
“And with a number of Irish family award wins, we are delighted to reopen on such a positive note.”
