Doona’s huge contribution

JIM Doona is a man who has made a huge contribution to the club and he was chairman for a number of years.

He was manager of the team that won the Anchor Shield in 1988 and was also manager of the Youths team that won the cup. After serving the club faithfully for 20 years he went on to be elected to the management committee of the KDL and was later elected vice chairman a post he held for seven years.

He helped create a unique achievement back in 1981 when Killorglin youngsters set a World Record for a five-a-side game in the town. These days Jim is enjoying sport at a more leisurely pace playing golf and was manager of the Killorglin team that won the Jimmy Bruen Shield Final in 2013. He still follows the fortunes of the club with great interest.
