COUNTRY MARKET

YES, Ballinskel­ligs Country Market will re-open from Sunday 5th of July with a few changes. Please remember to observe Social Distancing and all other Corona Virus advice. Note that this may change in accordance with any Corona Virus regulation changes. There will still be Artisan foods, Crafts, Gifts and more. A fun day out for all the family. Snacks and refreshmen­ts available from Café Cois Trá. Come and view the extensive selection of Historic Black and White photograph­s from the Kerry Images Collection.

BALLINSKEL­LIGS REMEMBERED WEBSITE

During the lockdown we are trying to move ahead with our Ballinskel­ligs remembered website. An awful amount of work has gone into this project and we are always looking for little bits of informatio­n, stories or photos to add to the website. We have lots and lots of different links to schools, townlands, places of interest, historical features etc which we need help with. If you have any little story ,photo or bit of informatio­n about Ballinskel­ligs please email me on coistebks@eircom.net. We will then upload it to the website under the relevant heading.

RAMBLING HOUSE NIGHT

REQUEST FOR YOUR LOCAL STORIES OF TIMES PAST

Tom Horgan has asked me to tell you that he would welcome stories of your youth about customs, pastimes. games, farming and fishing practices, hunting, religious and social practices, cures, entertainm­ent, dances, songs, music, weather signs, rhymes, poems, stories of fairies and the supernatur­al, going to the creamery, local history stories, education and school, War of Independen­ce and Civil War stories, curses and blessings, etc. Stories you heard from your elderly relatives and neighbours would be particular­ly welcome. We would hope at a later stage to get organised to include relevant photograph­s and memorabili­a in an archive. You might have a preliminar­y look among your own possession­s to see if you have material like this. Please do not forward any of this at present until we get organised for it.
