Travel business focused on refunds and 2021

JULY & AUGUST ENQUIRIES QUIET AS TRAVEL AGENTS FOCUS ON NEXT YEAR

AS COVID-19 restrictions are further eased, the question of whether or not people should travel abroad in 2020 is now one of the biggest topics for debate.

With much still up in the air regarding what the official guidelines from the government are, travel agents here in Kerry are in a difficult position of needing travel to survive as a business but not wanting to promote travel if it is unsafe either.

Caroline Riordan Casey from KC Travel in Tralee, says that, so far, enquiries about holidays in July or August have been quiet, but she hopes that by October, people might start looking again.

For now, though, Caroline says that her main focus is making sure that all of her clients receive their refunds from holidays booked before the pandemic kicked off.

“Travel is a very raw topic right now for people,” she said.

“I can only speak for my own experience at the moment but for us here, we’ve been kept very busy with the refund side of things and looking to holidays in 2021 again,” said Caroline.

“At the moment, I am 100 per cent focused on looking after all of my clients and making sure that they get their refunds. That is the main bulk of the work we are doing at the moment. We want to make sure that no one is left out of pocket. I have people here that are still looking for refunds since March,” she said on Monday.

Additionally, Caroline said they have been helping clients to transfer their holidays from 2020 to 2021.

“I have a few people who have transferred their holidays to 2021. For us here at KC Travel, we are concentrating mainly on 2021 now,” she said.
