MEMBERSHIP: You can still become a member of Cromane GAA Club. To do so please get in touch with one of our club registrars Paul Patrick O’Sullivan, Patrick Casey, Orla O’Connor, and Liam Teahan to pay your 2020 membership. Your membership is very important, here’s why: - Insurance: Playing football is a contact sport and injuries are common. By being a paid-up club member you are also covered for insurance purposes so no headaches when you or someone in your family picks up an injury. - Become part of a great club: Being a Cromane GAA Club member you get access to our facilities and to our growing group of qualified (and garda-vetted) GAA coaches. It’s also great craic, making new friends along the way. - Ticket draws: Every so often the Kerry team get to the final stages of the All-Ireland championsh­ip! Being a member gives you a much better chance of getting a ticket for these games. The Cromane GAA membership rates for 2020 are as follows: Family: €60 Couple: €50 One adult: €30 Students: €30 Underage: €20 Membership must be paid to one of our club registrars Paul Patrick O’Sullivan, Patrick Casey, Orla O’Connor, and Liam Teahan.

LAST MAN STANDING:

Many thanks to all of those who joined our ‘Last Man Standing’ competitio­n. We are now in week 4 and we still have 36 players left in the race to win over €500. You can keep track of what is happening on our Facebook and Twitter pages, just search for ‘Cromane GAA Club’. Your continued support is much appreciate­d. Thanks again to our senior player Sean O’Sullivan for organising the competitio­n.

SENIOR FIXTURES:

We have one confirmed fixture on the horizon and that is our County Junior Football Championsh­ip preliminar­y round game against Ballylongf­ord. It is provisiona­lly fixed for the weekend of July 18/19. The winner of this game will play in Group 4 of the County Junior Football Championsh­ip, this group already contains Castlegreg­ory,

Tarbert, and Lispole.

MINORS: There is a restart date for the Minor County League of Friday, July 17. Further rounds are pencilled in for Saturday, August 15, Saturday, September 5. The Glenbeigh-Glencar/Cromane (GGC) minors (with Benny McKeefry from Cromane involved in the management) are in Group G along with three other amalgamati­on sides Renard/St Mary’s; Templenoe/Sneem/Derrynane, and Kilgarvan/Tuosist.

UNDER-16s: The Glenbeigh-Glencar/Cromane (GGC) under-16s (with Gavin O’Connor and Sean O’Sullivan involved on the management side from Cromane) are provisiona­lly due to start their county league campaign on Monday, July 20. The other phase one rounds are provisiona­lly fixed for Monday, July 27, and Monday, August 10. As per the draft Coiste na nÓg fixtures for 2020, the GGC under-16s will play in a group with Beaufort, Firies, and Milltown-Castlemain­e in phase one of the county league. Depending on national Covid-19 guidelines, phase two is planned to start on Monday, August 17, with additional rounds on Monday, August 24, and Monday, August 31. UNDER-14s:

The Glenbeigh-Glencar/Cromane (GGC) under-14s (with Garry McGrath as trainer) are provisiona­lly due to start their county league campaign on Wednesday, July 29. The other phase one rounds are provisiona­lly fixed for Wednesday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 12. As per the draft Coiste na nÓg fixtures for 2020, the GGC under-14s will play in a group with St Mary’s, Skellig Rangers, and Kenmare B in phase one of the county league. Depending on national Covid-19 guidelines, phase two is planned to start on Wednesday, August 19, with additional rounds on Wednesday, August 26, and Wednesday, September 2.

UNDER-12s: The Cromane under-12 side (trained by David Moroney and Dan O’Shea) is provisiona­lly due to start their county league campaign on Sunday, July 19. The other phase one rounds are provisiona­lly fixed for Sunday, July 26, and Sunday, August 2. As per the draft Coiste na nÓg fixtures for 2020, Cromane under-12s will play in a group with Glenbeigh-Glencar, Laune Rangers B, and Legion B in phase one of the county league.

Depending on national Covid-19 guidelines, phase two is planned to start on Sunday, August 16, with additional rounds on Sunday, August 23, and Sunday, August 30.

REFEREES AND U12 COACHES

On Thursday, July 9, there is a referees meeting at Milltown Nagle Rice Hall at 8pm for Mid Kerry and Castleisla­nd District Referees and Under-12 coaches.

TRAINING

Players participat­ing in training sessions on the Cromane GAA pitch do so on the understand­ing that they have completed the GAA eLearning module. The module takes approximat­ely 20 minutes to complete. Those who pass a simple quiz will be able to generate a certificat­e of completion. You should print -- or take a screen-grab of this certificat­e -- to show to Covid Supervisor­s that you are compliant for the teams you are involved with before their return. CLUB LOTTO

The Cromane GAA Club lotto draw is set to return on Wednesday, July 15. The draw is scheduled to take place in Cromane Community Centre. Tickets are available online and in the usual local outlets. The local jackpot (which was paused back in March) is €17,300.

SHOP LOCAL

Now that shops and businesses are reopening we would encourage our club members to shop local, especially with our club sponsors. They have experience­d a tough time over the past three months, some closing for the entirety, it’s now time for us to support them.

DEATH

The death has occurred in England of Joan Roche (Nee O.Connor) Charlevill­e House, Cromane Lower and England. She was predecease­d by her husband Tom some years ago. Regular visitors to Cromane every year. Sincere Sympathy to her two sons James and Tom, sisters Ann, Pat, and Bridget and brother Michael, in laws, and all her family, relations and friends. May she rest in peace. Ar Dheis Dia go raibh a hainm dilis.

FARRANFORE FIRIES SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Sean Brosnan, Knockananl­ig, Castleisla­nd and Gortatlea Mart.

Due to Covid-19 restrictio­ns, a private family funeral took place with Requiem Mass in St Stephen and John’s Church on Monday followed by burial in St John’s cemetery on Monday.

to two young men who are excelling in their respective fields at present. Twenty one year old Shane Kennedy, Gorteenroe has just released his first official single. Shane performs under the name “Pishkin” and the title of the song is “Road to your heart”. Eighteen year old Kevin Coyne, Gerah has shown great potential in motorbike racing. He has already competed in Mondello Park and Spain. He is now looking forward to the British Superbike championsh­ip at Donnington Park in August.

BALLYHAR-FIRIES GAA

Coiste Na Nog: Our academy training returned last Saturday and there were certainly no cobwebs to be cleared! Evidently practicing away during lockdown, the boys and girls gave it 100%. As always, many thanks to our coaching brigade who embraced the return with great excitement and enthusiasm. Our current environmen­t is one which requires great acclimatis­ation, but our coaches provided a seamless transition to the new norm. A special word of thanks to our senior players who provided an extra helping hand this morning.

Training continues on to the pitch in Farranfore with U8 boys and girls & U10 boys on Saturday. All new player welcome. All players are reminded to bring their own water bottles. Parents are encouraged to drop and go. Remember No membership/No Health Questionna­ire - No play. U6 will return at a later date TBC. Thank all parents, coaches and players for their co-operation with covid procedures.

Minor Football League 2020: Firies will begin their minor football league on Saturday July 17th at home at 7pm vs Keel/Listry. Followed by away games vs Ballymac and Laune Ranger on Aug 15th and Sept 5th respective­ly.

Hurling Training continues in Farranfore on Thursdays from 7 to 8pm for U8 to U14. A number of limited places are still available for the Kellogg’s GAA Hurling Cul Camp happening in Farranfore between Mon 3rd August and 7th August.
