CALF rearing is an important job as the young calf is the future of the herd. Well reared, healthy calves will produce high yielding, healthy adult dairy cattle and fast growing beef animals.

At Kelliher’s, our calf starter pencils are highly palatable and are formulated to maximize early intake of top quality ingredients. Our approach to feeding calves is to encourage the development of a strong immune system which promotes health at a time in the animal’s life when it is most vulnerable. We formulate to promote effective rumen development so that calves can go on to maximize their genetic potential.

Sweet Start Calf Pencil is a palatable 20% protein calf starter, to be fed to calves from one week of age. Pelletted calf pencils promotes intakes, by reducing sorting through ingredients, and avoids feed spoilage.

Optimum levels of top quality native cereals are a source of starch to promote rumen development along with the inclusion soya oil, a rich energy source which improves coat appearance.

Protein is derived from soya bean meal and distillers dried grains; these combined provides the correct balance of minerals and vitamins for strong bone and muscle development. Actisaf Yeast is also included to help stimulate early rumen papillae development and stabilise rumen pH levels.
