BOXTIE’S CEILI

Thanks to Boxtie’s Johnny Gallagher, The Big Box Ceílí Band will appear in Rossinver Community Centre on this Friday night, July 1, with special guests Seán Gallagher ( ex Quarrymen) and Belcoo man Patsy McCabe.

The Big Box Cell Band, is a big band of family and friends. The core of the show is simply made up of the famous ‘ Boxtie Band’ with Johnny Gallagher, Pauric Gallagher, James Gallagher, Seán O’Reilly, joined by ‘ former Boxtie fiddle man’ James McNamee.

Don’t miss this unique opportunit­y to hear them all together at home in Ireland. Check for local buses to Rossinver, July 1 from 10 p. m. with full bar facilities. Tickets cost € 15.

TEXT ALERT

The North Leitrim Text Alert Scheme covers the Kiltyclogh­er, Rossinver, Manorhamil­ton, Glencar, Mullies, Lurganboy, Glenboy and Ballyboy areas.

Anyone who wishes to sign up for the North Leitrim Community Text Alert Scheme can do so by the completing the details on a scheme envelope and paying the € 5 fee in Bredin’s Newsagents Manorhamil­ton, Rossinver Community Centre, the Ballagh Centre Rossinver or McGriskin’s Shop Kiltyclogh­er, where the scheme envelopes are available.

GRAVES CEREMONIES

The Blessing of Graves’ ceremonies will take place on this Sunday, July 3, in Glencar Parish directly after the 10.15 a. m. Sunday Mass in St Osnat’s Church.

The Killenora graveyard blessing takes place first and will be followed by Diffreen ceremony. Please note that the annual collection for maintenanc­e of Killenora graveyard will take place on way into the graveyard.

This money is currently used for cutting of the grass in the graveyard five times during the year, so that it is accessible to all throughout the year when visiting their relative’s graves.

The Committee wish to express their thanks to all who contribute towards this collection. Without people’s generous donations the cutting of the graveyard grass could not continue.

SUMMER STARS

Summer Stars is a summer reading programme for young people that has run very successful­ly each year in Manorhamil­ton Library. Entry forms are now being accepted for the Summer Stars programme in the Library. The entry forms are also available there for all who wish to be part of this wonderful event for the next few months.

If you are not already signed up for the Summer Stars programme the Library invites you to pop in to register and don’t miss out on the summer fun of reading lots of exciting books.

The Summer Stars reading programme is a free programme and is open to all children.

GIRL’S BRIGADE ON TV

Congratula­tions are extended to Manorhamil­ton Girl’s Brigade who performed so well on the RTÉ One Television’s Sunday Worship Service programme on Sunday week last.

The Girls Brigade and their leaders were recorded for this service in the RTÉ Studios Dublin in May. The service was led by Jono Griffin from the Surf Project.

Seán Henry from Aurivo also raised the school’s second Green Flag on the day. Well done to all the children in Taunagh NS on a great year’s work. Taunagh NS wish everyone a happy and safe summer break.

STRICTLY COME DANCING

A Strictly Come Dancing will take place in Castledarg­an Hotel on Sunday, July 3, in aid of Ballygawle­y Pitch Developmen­t. Thirteen couples from around the county who have been practising over the past number of weeks will take to the floor. Kelesa Mulcahy from the Voice of Ireland will be guest judge. Door open at 7 p. m. and admission is € 10.

SUMMER CAMP

Arrow Harps FAI summer camp will commence on Monday, July 4, from 10.30 a. m. daily. Please register on summersocc­erschools. ie. Places filling up fast so please register early. LADIES GAELIC

The Gaelic for Mothers and Others is up and running for 2016 and looking for new members. Training is every Monday at 8 p. m. in Riverstown Park. This is free fun way to learn the game of Gaelic and get to know other people. It is for any skill level, with no experience required for anyone over 18 with no upper age limit.
