CONNACHT MOTOR CLUB IS COMMITTED TO THE PROMOTION OF MOTORSPORT IN THE NORTH WEST OF IRELAND

The Club actively supports the joint RSA / Motorsport Ireland “Keep the Race in its Place Safety Campaign” and also, the FIA “Action for Road Safety” Global Campaign.

The Club has 100 or more members each year & the current membership fee is € 15 per year. Club meetings are held in the Sligo Park Hotel, normally on the 2nd Monday of the month at 9.30 pm but some exceptions apply - members are updated by text message in advance of meetings. The meetings schedule is also published on this website.

The Club organises 4 Autocross events, a Stages Rally and a Hewison Autotest each year.

Club Members can get experience in varying roles including marshallin­g, communicat­ions or timekeepin­g. Senior roles such as Stage Leader( s), Asst/ Deputy COC and COC roles are generally filled by club members who have gained varied experience assisting at a no. of events.

Club members are encouraged to assist at club events & also, to travel to other events in the motorsport calendar to provide support to neighbouri­ng Clubs - these include the Mayo Stages Rally, Midland Stages, Monaghan Stages, Cavan Stages, Donegal Internatio­nal Rally, Galway Summer Rally, Clare Stages and the Donegal Harvest Rally. Senior Club members are involved with the sport at a National level - these include :• Joe Corcoran - President of Motorsport Ireland ( MI) • Robert Lyttle - Rallies Committee • Rosemary Walsh - MOTEV Group The club assists at other local events from time- to- time & these include the popular Warriors Run in August which is a challengin­g road & hill race from Strandhill to the top of Knocknarea and back to Strandhill.
